Great work you guys do to create this kind of idea for nature. I read an article studying the legitimacy of ecosia and the writer seemed 75% convinced, so maybe a bit more noise and transparency on earnings vs trees planted is in order. For functionality: mostly everything works well. I get occasional errors with forms and scripts, as well as scaling. Lately, though, I've been blocked or forced to do Captcha on some pages (ie. travelgenio) thinking I'm a bot. Could you look into this?
This is really a great application. If all the claims they make are true, then it is great for the planet, too. Imagine this browser having as many users as Chrome!. I have had no issues using the app, just that the results page doesn't look that great. I know that I am supposed to look for info using this app, but make it look better, that will do the trick. It is very much satifying looking at the counter go up. Do you guys plan to make partnerships in South Asia and China?
Hello dear developers and tree planters, I just wanted to give my opinion on the latest update. Before, when you have the overview of the tabs open, there was a + in the top left(now there is the icognito mode slider, which isnt a bad place for it), which was really convinient and is something I miss. Maybe you could make the dark more accessable? I wasnt able to find it in the settings, but that could just be me overlooking it. Love your work and app tho Thanks for planting trees Helix
The most recent update (3rd April 2019 I believe) has massively improved playing videos in the browser. I use it for YouTube since the YouTube app is almost identical, apart from its insistence on running in the background 24/7. Ecosia still sometimes struggles or crashes with larger websites, like forums with multiple embedded pictures and videos. But as long as the cause is genuine, I'd say it's worth using. You can also just make the Ecosia site your homepage in your preferred browser. 👍
I'm quite disappointed with this app. I love the fact that this prevents tons of ads to pop up on my screen and obviously that there is some good behind it. I constantly use Ecosia on my computer and will continue. However, I have to admit that the app very often crashes and is very slow in opening Web pages... I think you could do better. It works just fine on my Apple phone though... I surely would want to use it if you fixed it here. Kind regards.
A beautiful, yet poorly developed movement. The UI of this browser is pretty outdated and looks like Chrome 2 years ago. The search engine is good but looks like Google in 2012. The cause and the way the app works are awesome. The look and feel of the app is not. A flat, modern, minimalistic, simple interface would make this the best browser ever, but I won't stop using Ecosia because I care about the Earth.
This is just the best app Ecosia is good for our planet, it is the solution, everybody must use it I thought that Ecosia couldn't replace Firefox etc.. But it's absolutely wrong, this browser is clean, clear and ecologic So let's use it, you can't loose anything, I promise
I love this app so much! I use it on all of my devices, and rarely need to use Google like some of the reviews say. I think it's an amazing, easy, free way to support the environment and I think everyone should have it. You plant a tree every 45 searches, just by using it. There is a useful counter so you can see how many searches you have made, and how many trees have been planted. They are also completely transparent and honest, posting their financial reports every month. Download ecosia!
Works well and plants trees. What more could you ask for? I noticed comments changes in the app recently and wanted to comment on them. It was mentioned that dark mode isn't available in the most recent update. That likely only applies to Android versions before 10 as it's built into Android with 10 and this app respects the setting. Creating a new tab doesn't require multiple clicks, just 2. Tap on the more settings (three dots) in the upper-right corner and tab New Tab. It is odd that when you touch the +, it takes you to a screen where you again have to tap + to get a new tab. The auto-login was mentioned. While it doesn't auto-login just by visiting the website (as far as I can tell), you just tap in the login entry box and it offers to do the auto-login assuming you've entered this information previously. I didn't depend on the way these options worked before so I can understand some people not liking the changes. I just wanted to point out that the features are still there, they're just accessed differently. That is, except for the dark mode which is probably only available with Android 10 dark theme settings.
Edit, recent bad issues with search result page failure. Server side errors. Still 5 stars in the hope that things get back on track. Oh but on the positive side unlike everyone else I like the grid tabs. It's ok. It's just a browser guys, chill... Ecosia is now my go to browser, I really haven't had to think about it working or not working in so long. I just use it and the search engine. And hey... Plants 🎄. Saves 🌏.
